Happy Sunday! 😀 It’s been almost two months since my last blog post and I have my accounting thesis & defense to thank for that. Fortunately, the entire FMA&BSA4 just finished with it yesterday so I have time to make this delicious blog post about this heavenly place we went to last night. So here’s my Sweet Sunday post for y’all.
Since I passed my thesis defense last Friday, we (my baby sister, boyfriend and I) decided to celebrate at Maitre Chocolatier. It’s this boutique and cafe that has chocolate in every type serving they have. Awesome, noh? Imagine what a treat it was for me being a chocoholic 😉
Before I begin, I want to give a shout out to Weeza Pilares and Oscar Poblete for recommending this place. Wouldn’t have known about this if it weren’t for them. 🙂
So, yesterday, after an extremely exhausting day filled with festivities for the final week of school for this semester, aaand for passing the thesis defense, boyfriend took baby sister and I out to Maitre Chocolatier. It’s located in Makati. If you read until the end of this blog post, you’ll find out the exact location. 😉 As I mentioned earlier, they have a touch of chocolate in every serving they have on their menu. The only other restaurant that is a chocolate-focused cafe in Manila that I know of is Max Brenner Chocolate Bar in Greenbelt 5. It’s such a delight knowing that there was another chocolate-focused cafe nearer to my place.
Upon entering the place, you’ll immediately be greeted with these European branded chocolates all of which were in my Top 10 favorite chocolates. They had Lindt, Storck, Villars, Fererro Rocher, Valor, Frey, Guylian, Nutella, Ritter Sport and loads more. They even had Habiro jelly candies which my sister went crazy for. You can just walk in here, buy your desired chocolates and skedaddle away. However, I do recommend that you take your time and sit down to try their delicious food at a very affordable price. For those wanting to chill on some alcoholic beverages, they have these cocktail drinks that’s also filled with chocolate. It’s definitely my type of drinks. 😀
These tin cans right here are coffee. The famous Italian expresso coffee that was found in Trieste, Italy. If you’re not familiar with this brand, you’ve probably come across it on the ground floor level of the National Bookstore in Glorietta 2. They have a mini cafe over there within the bookstore.
Loved how we were served complementary Ritter Sport milk and dark chocolate bits. It was naturally delicious.I wanted to try their Chocolate Churros Sticks PhP156. It’s pretty much like stick donuts that were fried perfectly. It’s crunchy yet oh so chewy on the inside. The chocolate syrup was made of dark Lindt chocolate. What surprised me was that the dark chocolate didn’t have this bitter taste, it was still sweet. It was perfect. You have to eat it right away though since they start to become hard if you leave them out too long. It’s a new favorite for me. 🙂
Baby sister ordered the Frey White Chocolate Crepe PhP185. It was very creamy. You can immediately taste the white chocolate. Other than that, it had this fruity sensation since it had bits of fruits in it like mango, kiwi and whatnot. It’s very mouthgasmic. If you’re not a fruity type of person, like my boyfriend, you won’t really enjoy this even if it’s really good.
One of Maitre Chocolatier’s bestsellers is this White Chocolate Carbonara PhP230. Baby sister had this as her main entrée. This carbonara was extra creamy, obviously because of the white Lindt chocolate in it. I usually don’t like my carbonara meals too creamy, but I would still recommend this dish. The bacon helped a lot, I guess.
I had the Chicken in Mushroom White Chocolate and Cheese Sauce PhP245. I loved it mainly because I love mushrooms. It was tender chicken pouched in Villar Chocolate Blanc with melted cheese. It was really good. It got me full really quick though. Boyfriend had this Rosemary & Garlic Chicken PhP225. He said that he loved how juicy the meat was. I’m not really a fan of rosemary so I didn’t quite enjoy the taste as much as he did. Also, the taste of the dark chocolate was very subtle. What matters is that Paolo enjoyed his meal. 🙂
Here are the two annoying people that I’m always with. Wouldn’t go anywhere without them. ❤ Hello! Sorry we look so exhausted. It’s been a tiring semester and a hectic thesis week which will be followed by a finals examinations week starting Wednesday 😦 The food here made us happy though! 😀 Us Instagram-ing away. Oh, in celebration of their Cebu branch’s 3rd Anniversary, Maitre Chocolatier is having this stamp card promo. For every receipt that goes over PhP800, you get a stamp. On the third stamp you receive, you avail a special gift/item from them. You must hurry though since this promo is only valid until November 30th.
Of course, they also have desserts. What chocolate place would it be without desserts? Chocoalte cakes and ice cream are a must try! The location of Maitre Chocolatier can easily be missed or overlooked, especially if you’re driving at a fast pace. I’m not surprised that they are not able to attract that much of a crowd since they don’t really stand out. Oh, and if you come here with a car, parking could be a problem especially during busy weekends. However, when we went, they were barely any people.
Head on down to Unit 2A, 28 Jupiter Street corner Astra Street, Bel-Air, Makati! Here’s a link to their map for more convenience, https://maps.google.com.ph/maps?expflags=enable_star_based_justifications:true&ie=UTF8&cid=6214915512885575868&q=Maitre+Chocolatier+Boutique+Cafe&iwloc=A&gl=PH&hl=en 🙂 They’re open everyday starting 10AM until 11PM on weekdays and 2AM on weekends. Be sure to go, mkay? You won’t regret it. Pinkypromise.
My overall rating? Hmm, I’d probably give it a 4 star rating out of 5. The food was good, but not as great as I expected it to be. However, I absolutely love how they combined the elegance of premium chocolates with modern day cuisine. It’s such a very clever concept and a special treat to all chocoholics.
Anyways, I still have to revise a few case studies plus final thesis revision so this is it for me.. for now. I promise to be back next weekend with more posts so keep posted! 😉
Have a great week ahead and enjoy the remaining of this Sunday. God bless to all those taking the finals exam, CPA board exams and the Bar exams this coming weeks/month. 😀
