Because being a dog is too mainstream.
I brought my Burmilla cat, Tony, to the SPUM@100: Pet Parade last January 27, 2011. He ended up being the only cat there as most people brought their dogs. Some brought their pet hamsters, rabbits and guinea pig.
Before I continue, I want to apologize if I don’t cover all of the pets at the pet parade because there are just far too many of them. Also, I was not able to take a lot of pictures since I was too busy carrying Tony. >.< SORRY SORRY! 😦 But believe me when I say that there were way too many amazing and awesome pets present there. 🙂
There were so many nicely dressed dogs at the parade. It was so adorable!
I loved seeing the Siberian Huskies the most though. I always wanted one.
The parade started at around 7:30AM and only lasted for thirty minutes since pets and pet owners just walked around the outside area of the university. Some pets walked on their own. Some were too lazy to walk. I couldn’t let Tony walk because of obvious reasons.
There were so many prizes that were given away for being the best dressed dog with a male and female category, there was also the cutest or most adorable dog with a male and female category, and there was also the best handler of a dog with a male and female category.
Tony won as the only cat at the pet parade. Hurray for nonconformity! The host even mentioned Tony being so brave because there were too many dogs surrounding him. The prize was a dog shampoo since I don’t think they expected anyone to bring a cat. They had cat food as a giveaway though. Close enough.
Of course, being the owner of the only cat there, I was just so proud. A lot of people, most of which I didn’t know, asked to carry Tony and have their pictures taken with him. Tony became an instant pet celebrity that day. Even the Sisters, professors and some non-teaching staff in our school became so fond of him. I don’t have a lot of pictures of the pet parade because I was stupid enough to forget the battery of the DSLR. Urgh. Oh well, here are the pictures that I have and some that I grabbed from friends. 🙂
Aren’t they just the cutest? 😉
Oh by the way, I love dogs and other cute pets but I’ve always been a cat person. I love you, Tony!
